Robot Path Generation

Path generation, or trajectory planning, calculates the optimal route for a robot to perform a task. It considers obstacles, speed, safety, and the physical limitations of the robot. In practice, it is used for tasks such as pick-and-place, assembly, and inspection. The process involves planning collision-free movements and optimizing speed and timing. Trajectory planning ensures precision, efficiency, and safety in automated systems.

Case description

For a customer of ours we have 3 cells in production in Europe that visualize a component based on a 2D and 3D scan. Our software is developed in such a way that based on these combined images the surface can be recognized where glue should be applied. This surface varies in both the XY direction and the Z direction. The software will generate a trajectory in 3D and this path is sent to the robot based on a point to point coordinate system. Our customer can choose between offset in height, speed of movement and an automatic start stop command for the glue gun mounted on a cobot.

This solution means our customer no longer needs to hire robot programmers to teach in new components.

For other customers we use this technology to scan parts, generate a path over the entire surface of the part and then send it to a spray robot. For example in the bodywork world and profile coating of window profiles.

Both cobots and regular robots can be controlled by our solution.
