Brickpicking

Brickpicking in robotics is the process where robots pick up, sort, and move bricks. It utilizes machine vision and intelligent gripping systems to accurately identify and handle bricks. This technology is widely applied in construction for stacking, sorting, and bricklaying robots. Robots can process unstructured piles of bricks and recognize different sizes or shapes.
This increases efficiency, reduces labor costs, and improves accuracy in the process.

Case description

At our customer, different types of bricks are transported on a roller conveyor from the baking oven and then stacked on pallets. Our vision system plays a crucial role in recognizing the bricks and controlling the robot, so that it can accurately pick up the bricks with the vacuum gripper.

To optimize cycle time, we developed an AI model that determines the ideal pick-up sequence of the stones. This ensures efficient stacking on the drop zones and increases the overall throughput.
