Engraving recognition and reading
Machine vision is playing an increasingly important role in the scanning and processing of industrial products.
Through the use of camera systems and sensors, machine vision can scan a wide range of components to assess their quality and integrity before further processing steps—such as polishing or recertification—take place.
Case description
Our client has been using the same gas cylinders for decades. Over the years, these cylinders have become rusty and have been engraved multiple times with information such as origin, contents, production year, and other relevant data.
The assignment is to read this engraved text using a combination of 3D and 2D imaging. The extracted or best-interpreted data will be displayed on a smart HMI, allowing the operator to easily review and, if necessary, edit the text.
The goal is to scan all gas cylinders in circulation within one year and fully register the obtained data in the ERP system, enabling accurate traceability of all cylinders.
